Coo-ee Blue-ey

July 7th, 2010

Did you know free aerogrammes, known as blueys because of their, er, blue colour, have been supplied to servicemen and women in the British army since the second world war? In this modern techo age they now have e-blueys. Imagine all those messages of love, fear, excitement, drama, loneliness, terror and happiness - it’s no surprise that only an aerogramme would do. The army really does know the pen is mightier than the sword after all.

Lady Animal Writes

March 31st, 2010

Letter power is at it again and international girl will be there to lend a hand.

Women of Letters is a new monthly happening in Melbourne, Australia, bringing together five of the brightest local female writers, musicians, politicians and comedians in celebration of the beautiful lost art of letter-writing - all the while raising money for animal protection.

The afternoon will bring the traditionally private endeavour of letter writing into the public arena with each guest reading their letter. A musical interlude will follow, during which time the audience are encouraged to indulge in some letter writing for themselves. Stamps, international girl aerogrammes and a mail box will be provided.

Great Aerogramme Challenges #1 - Chubba Finger

October 12th, 2008

Chubby fingers? Don’t be embarrassed. You’re not alone.

You’ve been sent a stunning international girl aerogramme but are now faced with the quandary of how to open that little piece of art without ripping it. Never fear oh girthy-digited ones: international girl has solutions. Simply use a letter opener, nail file, chopstick or piece of dried tagliatelle. Or when you’re next getting a cappucino, sidle up to the coffee machine for a little steaming action. Works wonders for opening your aerogramme - and your complexion.
